I have the fortune of knowing this particular author, and she has the misfortune of having me for a fangirl. That being said, now you all have the misfortune of seeing me pour fangirl goo all over this post. But it is well deserved.
themaohour. Words cannot express how much I love Mao's writing. Every story, paragraph, sentence, and word...she's methodical, deliberate with every phrase. Mao writes words that I don't just read, she writes words that caress every sense I possess. These are not simply characters, they are people. It is not a story; it is a life.
I wish I had the mesmerizing words to tell you what I loved about "Prelude to a Year Backpacking in Tibet", but all I could come up with was this:
I've never read an interpretation of Draco Malfoy that was quite like this, and I doubt I will ever find one again. He's cynicism and hope, pitiable and admirable, cowardly and brave. Bravo Mao, bravo.
