Dean and Sam.

You know I never thought I'd be one to catch a ride on the Wincest train, but honestly it makes sense.

And here's the kicker of it: I don't think either one of them is gay in the sense they're attracted to men. I don't think they are even attracted to each other, but they are in love. At least Dean is in love with Sam. Forget the black lady he spilled his guts to and the one he thought was the mother of his child. Dean would do anything for Sam...anything.

And it's not just brotherly devotion. The closest and most intimate relationship Dean's ever known is Sam. Even these two women were brief and fueled mostly by the lust coursing through little Dean. It's like a more awesome version of Flowers in the Attic. Dad locks kids away together for weeks at a time, months even, and makes them function without the love and attention they need. One it makes them a mess of insecurities. Sam is obsessed with being normal. And Dean is obsessed with Sam.

Also they don't function properly with or without each other. Then there are so many things that just point to Wincest. Though I personally don't see either one of them ever acting on what simmers beneath the surface. Dean is too righteous and Sam needs to be shown the truth to believe it and ain't no one helping that boy outta that closet, you know the one that hides the fact his brother is too tuned into him and vice versa (at times).

IDK, it's midnight and my thinker isn't so great at midnight (or any other time of day) but all I know is that Wincest...well it makes sense to me. I don't see Dean/Cas. Just because I don't see Gay!Dean. Or Gay!Sam for that matter, but I see them being with each other. I think what really put the nail in the coffin of Wincest for me was the episode with the Siren. You know the male one who totally tries to bro all over Dean and that's the one thing he wants more than anything in the world. He wants his little brother. Maybe he doesn't believe it's sexual love, but bottom line more than anything he loves Sam and the siren proves that to me. I mean COME ON! Then the flashback to high school and what the girl says to Dean about how she thought he'd be more loving like he is with his brother and I was like DUDE EVEN THE CHICKS YOU'RE PORKIN KNOW YOU GOT MEGA LOVE FOR YOUR BROTHER *is a bit excited about this* >.>

Annnnnyways. I am probably too tired to be making much sense, but Wincest--the awkward, non-fluffy, full of mixed signals, and possibly unrequited, never comes to pass love-love not brother love, but still somehow brother love.

All the more reason for my mother to think I'm a freak, because you know I can't contain my love for a ship. *shrugs*

ALSO: Hilarious Fangirl references about fanfiction. The crazed fangirl Becky with her love of Sam's firmness. LARPING *died when heard the comic book guy call them larpers* Also Trickster episode with them doing TV stuff BRILLIANT! All of this shit is WIN, just saying. I laugh so much it's insane.

Right, bed. Later. *blows kisses*

I see Wincest for all the reasons you mentioned, but I also see Dean/Cas - especially in the series. (Though I prefer Wincest of Dean/Cas in fanfic.)

Dean, IMHO, is a bisexual in the closet. His reactions to gay characters (denial and confusion, but not judgemental) point towards someone who overcompensates, and he is so smitten with Dr. Sexy.

And you've got a great point. He seems to overcompensate and thankfully he's not the "I'm so in denial I beat up gays" type. He seems just offended and too worried about why people always think he and Sam are gay together (because it's OBVIOUS, Dean) :D

I think my issue with Dean/Cas is that I love how much Dean loves Sam and him loving Cas is unacceptable to my fangirl brain (not that it wouldn't actually work in fanfic). I have seen the long stares and you know Cas rebelling for Dean is pretty hardcore, but I see them more of awesome friends. I think Dean is so open and happy with him because--well if he is having bisexual tendencies and gay loving on his brother secretly--Cas is safer than Sam. In the emotional sense. I think at the point I'm at now, Dean is realizing how bad it is that he couldn't do what needed to be done. He loves Sam so much, after everything, he still cannot walk away. He's bitter and things, of course, but walking away? He'll never escape Sam. *squeezes Dean so tight*

Also the Sam/Dean couple at the convention--the way Dean looked all uncomfortable and a little bit like "OMG WTF", to my fangirl brain I think it's because he was faced with an uncomfortable truth. He and Sam are that intimate (you know cause it totally had nothing to do with seeing a bunch of kids dress up like him and Sam and act like them, noooothing at all) :DDDDD

I could never really make my brain go there with Wincest. It's no offense to anyone who sees it. I'll admit during a couple of the early seasons there were scenes and moments that I thought had far more of a romantic undertone than a familial one. But in general, I never get that vibe from them. Yes, their relationship is dysfunctional and co-dependent, and they have a deep love for each other, but I don't believe what they feel is sexual or romantic in any way.

I just am not really an incest fan. I've read a few Merlin/Arthur AUs with incest. But usually it helps that I know in canon they're not brothers and usually they're either half-blood relatives and/or there's some kind of reincarnation angle. That's the only way I can really deal with incest in fiction.

It's not so odd since this is a show without many canon couples, but it's a show that I've never really rooted for any couples, slash or otherwise. I like Dean and Cas' friendship, but I just don't see either longing for the other romantically, and I don't react to their chemistry that way.

Dean/Cas doesn't work for me. People see it. I guess it's plausible, but it's not my thing.

I am an avid lover of tragedy. So when the incest is plausible I am totally gungho about it. I know it's not everyone's thing but when it works for me it works.

Yeah other than them I don't see all the pairings, it's a pretty rad show no matter what.

I don't ship Wincest because incest is a major squick of mine but... when you put it that way, even I can see it in my mind's eye. Dean's life, as you watch the series, from Season 1 to the latest season has always revolve around Sam. Not God. Not even John Winchester. Not even about some righteous otherworldly thing for saving the world. It's all about saving Sam. *nods*

WORD! And I get incest squicks a lot of people. In RL it squicks me like whoa! In fic, I do it case by case as I am a lover of angst and incest makes for a great angst factor.
